Where does the food go?

I am at a loss. Somehow, my food budget is not stretching as far as it used to. I am sure there are plenty of logical reasons why, and I can think of a few: Bloated food prices, a hungry (nursing) mamma, a growing toddler, a working husband, and my sister is closer which means more company around. But, as easy as it is eat out when there is no food in the house my goal is not to eat out, which is even more costly. The weekly menu planning is difficult to get around to with two very young ones at home (as is everything else such as cooking and cleaning). I ran across Menus4Moms a few nights ago, full of weekly menu plans complete with recipes and shopping lists. It’s only Mon-Fri, but I can come up with 2 more meals and some breakfast & lunch options. Some people have a “leftover” night, but I can never count on leftovers in my house. Just ask my husband why.

I’ve also been cooking meals in my crockpot. I can throw some things in the crockpot around noon when I still have some energy, and not have to worry about dinner at 5pm when I’m spent. I have teriyaki chicken in the crockpot for this evening, which will be a lifesaver when we’ve been out looking at houses in the afternoon.

Forget my previous post that we had found “the one” (house). We’re still on the hunt and could use prayers. I never imagined such an emotional roller coaster of finding a house; But, I guess what can you expect with such a longterm decision.

We go to look at this house at 4:30 :

This one’s for you Sis!

My sister has been bugging me to blog. I havn’t written a blog post since shortly after our newest son, Ezekiel James, was born. Life has been qutie busy since then, but the main reason I havn’t written is that I just wasn’t sure what to write about and I just didn’t have the motivation. Well, after reading my sister’s blog some this evening, I remembered how fun it was to just write about my everyday life. I suppose I had fallen into the myth that every post I write had to be something spectacular. The plain truth is, writing should be enjoyable and filled with passion; And there is nothing I am more passionate about than my own life.

It’s sort of funny that, just as my sister and brother-in-law are re-stationed in Kansas (Army) and are buying a house, our own house hunting has come into full swing. Yesterday, we looked at a couple of houses and think we have finally found “the one”. It has everything we could possibly grow into in the next 10 years, and we are elated. I’ll try to update when we find out how “the offer” goes.

On a trip to Menards last night I picked up some booklets of color schemes to look at for possible paint colors. It will be so nice to finally have a place that is ours and we can customize.

Ezekiel is getting so big. He will be 2 months old on Monday. He is the sweetest little guy we ever could have asked for. Praise the Lord!
